I did when it was new. Been a while since I watched it last.

I’m sorry, what?

Out of those I can remember the only ones that have got attention from me are Ailee, SPICA and NU’EST.

Ailee because Ailee, she’s just incredible. It’s about time K-pop had a solo singer with the potential to mix it up with the top idol groups like IU does but at the same time she brings something completely different to the table than IU. She’s only had ‘Heaven’ out as a single so far but get on Youtube and check out her pre-debut stuff as well her Immortal Song 2 performances and see how much she enjoys what she does. That’s what I’m surviving on till she’s back.

Ignoring the fact I’ve been waiting for Jiwon to make her debut since forever SPICA have shown up and proven to be incredibly talented. They’re one of the most vocally strong groups not just this year but in K-pop as a whole. Usually all groups have at least 1 or 2 good singers but even SPICA’s weaker vocalists sound better than most other supporting vocalists, sometimes by leaps and bounds. Nice to see a group rocking the mid-tempo and they are the sexy too. They win at everything really.

NU’EST I wasn’t really expecting to like but low and behold they released a catchy debut track with a relevant message in the MV (even if the lyrics are confusing), I like Baekho’s voice A LOT and when I was originally checking them out I was genuinely surprised to see how young they all are. I’m looking forward to seeing them develop their talent. Hopefully they get the right attention now Pledis have more going on than ever before.

In terms of a relationship I see things as give and take.

I’ll just cover all the bases I can.

Secret… well, if you’ve been following me any length of time and don’t understand why I like them by now then I really can’t help you. Favourite group, my top two biases in all of K-pop are Hyosung and Zinger and both Jieun and Sunhwa are top 10. They can pull of any image and sound they go for and make it work for them plus I’m just generally a huge fanboy and have been following them since before they made their debut. Basement idols to flawless beauties making everyone else look pitiful (yes, they also make me a delusional fanboy).

Girl’s Day are motherflipping adorable. A lot of people don’t like the aegyo, parody and slapstick comedy in their MVs but I love it. Makes a change from the constant barrage of dark tones and sexiness (which are fine too but all the time? No thanks). Liking every single member individually helps too. Also made quite a few good friends through the Girl’s Day fandom too. Ridiculous Jihae favouritism too.

Rainbow was the first fandom I really threw myself in to and like Girl’s Day I’ve some friends because of it. Rainbow have released some of my favourite K-pop songs of all time, the big one being ‘Mach’. I love their sound and how much fun they have performing, especially at universities and festivals. They also have some of the sexiest stage performances going. Rainbow has two of my favourites tucked away in their group; sex kitten Hyunyoung and favourite pale person No Eul.

That’s my top 3 groups. I’m going to start grouping now or I could be at this forever and today is my last day off of a wonderful, sunburnt week and I want to get drunk before the evening’s out.

Sunny Hill, BEG and IU I mainly like for how creative and adventurous their labels seem to be. Both LOEN and NEGA make some of my favourite MVs, Narsha’s ‘Bbi Ri Bba Bba’ being my favourite K-pop MV since it was released. They try out more musical genres than other companies and their lyrics aren’t usually all about love and oppas and whatever other crap floods K-pop girl groups, especially when it comes to Sunny Hill. It’s hard for IU to do wrong in my eyes and ears, BEG are incredible performers even when besieged by illness such as the beginning of ‘Sixth Sense’ promotions and I’ve loved every solo so far. Not sure where to begin with Sunny Hill. A lot of people didn’t know about them before ‘Midnight Circus’ and they have changed their image and music dramatically and I love it. Their lyrics are about as cutting as it gets in K-pop, satirical at times even. Besides that Janghyun be pimpin’ and Seung Ah has a God tier eyesmile that too many people ignore or are unaware of and she’s properly lovely.

Wonder Girls and miss A, to me, are like two sides of the same coin. WG are the more traditional K-pop sound and they’re still flying that flag with aplomb while sneaking in new sounds on their albums (like Wonder World) whereas miss A are the direction new K-pop is going, legitimising trends other groups wish they could. I wasn’t in to K-pop when WG were at their peak but finally having a a full fledged comeback with ‘Be My Baby’ cemented me as a Wonderful, it did hurt when Sunye got a boyfriend though… it hurt so deep. As for miss A they’ve yet to have a promotion I’ve disliked, even when they went a tiny bit reggae. JIA IS MY PRINCESS!!!

I can’t talk about T-ara right now ¬______¬

4minute and A Pinkeeeeeuuu! Cube ladies and Cube babies. With 4minute it’s nothing too specific other than the fact I like what they do. It’s not ground breaking and they don’t set the K-pop world on fire but they’re good at what they do, really good. They’ve been one of my favourite groups for a long time and have remained so with ease. Ssangyoon doesn’t hurt either. When it comes to A Pink I have to make a confession. I completely dismissed their debut. I thought they weren’t for me and wrote them off without even listening to them but then when ‘My My’ came around I was convinced to give them a shot and immediately felt like an idiot as I realised what I had been missing. As much as I like all the sexy in K-pop I love the cute even more and A Pink are just that. They even got me watching a variety show for the first time in ages when I watched their stint on ‘Birth of a Family’ and fuuuuuuuuuuuuu- Eunji’s voice. Final note on A Pink, Bomi Face.

Who do I have left…

Dal Shabet I like but I wanted them to try something like ‘Hit U’ forever and I loved it as expected. I’ve had ups and down with them, it took me a long time to like ‘Pink Rocket’ and I have no interest in ‘Bling Bling’ at all but I tend to like their album tracks more than their title tracks. Dal Shabet also harbours my favourite giant maknae, Subin!

I tend to reblog all SM artists at the beginning of my spams purely because SNSD were my first experience of K-pop, like a gateway drug. I may not be as asdgfjakdsgfajgd (technical K-pop fan terminology) over SNSD as I used to be but that’s down to how lazy SM seem to be now. They may produce things to the point of perfection but when you’re polishing a turd (I’m talking about the songs, not the girls. Just before I get attacked) at the end of the day a shiny shit is just that. It’s not just SNSD I feel that about either. Super Junior have released some utter crap and it’s still sold truckloads and SM can do that because they know it will sell no matter what.

B.A.P I was hoping to like purely because of their association with Secret and luckily they are THAT good. Strong sound, I’ve liked Yong Guk for a long time and ol’ crazy eyes Himchan has the exact personality type I like in my male idols. Also where did they find Daehyun? THAT MAN!

Infinite I’ve been in to since their debut and I don’t see that changing any time soon. They’ve had some songs and promotions better than others but when your bad days are as awesome as theirs’ then who cares? They also make me question the realms of belief with how in sync their dancing is. Sunggyu is probably my favourite male idol too. For him to fight so hard to realise his dreams… all that time with no eyes… It’s a beautiful story…

I should really reblog more MBLAQ, I love their music and as a group I think they’re great but I just get distracted by Joon all the time. It may not seem like it with how much of them I post but MBLAQ are top 3 in male groups for me. I should show them more love.

And finally Block B. Block Derp. The controversy, scandal and mistakes have all been apologised for over and over but I’m just hoping that doesn’t blunt them when they come back next. I still want Block Derp, they aren’t afraid to act like fools and that’s one of the reasons I like them. Plus we all need a little Hep-Hap in our K-pop.
